Most channels accept the use of !list as a means of viewing ad\rquote s for fserve\rquote s and FTP servers, however doing a check of the rules of a channel can help you too. I will layout commands for you in the following manner. \par \ldblquote Everything in the inverted comma\rquote s is what you need to type\rdblquote\par \par Type \ldblquote !list\rdblquote or "xdcc list" (to see ad\rquote s)\par This will display a group of ad\rquote s for you covering most of the channel\rquote s ftp and fserve ad\rquote s. Not all ftp\rquote s and not all fserve\rquote s set their ad\rquote s to show when !list is used and the same goes for "xdcc list" triggers too. As a helpful bit of advice, it pays you to look at the ad\rquote s and see who has no sends and/or no queues. If none show with no queues or sends, then look for next best i.e. Sends 1/2 and Queues 2/15 is better than Sends 2/2 and Queues 15/15 because you will \lquote Get\rquote the file faster. \par Different server\rquote s react in different ways. A TDCC or XDCC trigger will generally send the file to you instantly. In #Startrek-USA channel, if you typed \ldblquote /ctcp PizzaTheButt PizzaDelivery\rdblquote , a download would start and you would get this file straight away because it\rquote s a TDCC trigger and the file is under 4Mb in size. Also, "xdcc list" triggers are generally on faster feeds, so where possible, use them. Format to get a file from an "xdcc list" trigger is \par "/msg PizzaTheButt send #x" where "x" = the number of the file from the listing of files shown.\par \par Most server\rquote s that have a \lquote !\rquote at the start of the trigger i.e. \ldblquote !Energize Me\rdblquote will open an fserve chat room. In this chat room, you need to be familiar with the old type of DOS commands like \ldblquote cd..\rdblquote to move back a directory or \ldblquote cd trek\rdblquote to get into a subdirectory or \ldblquote dir\rdblquote to see the contents of a directory. Move through the directories until you see the files you want and they have the full file name and extension showing as well as file size. Now you see a file you want. Use the command \ldblquote get\rdblquote followed by the filename and the extension i.e. \ldblquote Get ThisIsTheFileIWant.exe\rdblquote This will place the file in the que that the fserve has with all requests for files.\par \par Here is a sample ad from #Startrek-USA\par <%HalAshton> [Fserve Active] - Trigger:[/ctcp HalAshton !Trek] - Users:[0/5] - Sends:[2/2] - Queues:[1/5] - Record CPS:[27.9kB/s by [Rumble]] - Upload Speed:[29.8kB/s] - SysReset 2.53\par It uses a "/ctcp" style trigger and not an "!" style trigger (this type can be confusing). This server will allow up to 5 users at one time into it ( Users:[0/5] ) and is set to run with 2 sends ( Sends:[2/2] ) and also allows for up to 5 files to be qued ( Queues:[1/5] )\par \par So far,\par !list\tab\tab (to see the ad\rquote s in a channel that respond to !list) or\par xdcc list\tab (to see the ad's in a channel that are listed in that format)\par /ctcp\tab\tab (to get into a "/ctcp" fserve)\par !(trigger)\tab (to get into a "!" fserve)\par dir or ls\tab (to see contents of an fserve when your in an fserve)\par cd blahblah\tab (to change to blahblah dir in an fserve)\par cd.. or cd ..\tab (to change back one dir (same as cd\\ in DOS))\par get file.ext\tab (to have the file download to you when it\rquote s able to)\par \par Other commands that are used in fserve\rquote s\par clr-queues\tab (to remove all files that you have place into a que)\par sends\tab\tab (shows files being downloaded from the server)\par queues\tab\tab (shows files in the servers que waiting to be downloaded)\par quit\tab\tab (Correct way to leave a server, don\rquote t shut window with the \ldblquote X\rdblquote )\par \par When your looking for files in a channel window, some channel\rquote s allow the use of \ldblquote @find\rdblquote and \ldblquote !find\rdblquote (please check the channel\rquote s Rules first before using these two commands). These two commands will allow you to search through many servers without entering them by using a search pattern i.e. \ldblquote @find Ent\rdblquote This would generate a series of responses from servers that, either have the files or don\rquote t have the files. If a server has files that match the criteria of your search, they will respond with the trigger needed to look for the file.\par \par Good luck hunting.\fs28\par }
